An Honest Beauty Product Review

I'm a product junkie. I admit it. And in the years since my mom finally let me wear makeup, I've amassed a love for all things beauty. It has not been a cheap passion. 

So, as you can imagine, when I started hearing about old friends and even young people who were suffering from various forms of cancer, strange allergies, reproductive issues and an overwhelming lack of good health, I started doing research. I was shocked to realize what I didn't know. It's astonishing the amount of toxic chemicals I discovered in some of my long-standing, favorite products; products that I wrongfully assumed were safe, and regulated by the government. In fact, a recent study from researchers at UC Berkley showed that teenage girls who switched cosmetics for just three days had a significant drop in certain chemicals in their bodies. Knowledge, without a doubt, is power. That day I made a vow to clean up what I put on my body. Maybe right now you are making that decision as well. 

A friend of mine, a mom-to-be, recently cleaned out her entire beauty cabinet and highly recommended Honest Beauty. Honest. What a bold and novel word, given what I had just discovered. I wanted to have faith again in what I put on my skin, so I decided to put it to the test. Could this brand be safe, deliver a high-performance, affordable product and have a great range of colors? I was skeptical. But this is what I discovered:

Honest Truly Kissable Lip Crayons - Are dreamy. They go on easily and make your lips incredibly soft. I especially love Raspberry Kiss, Strawberry Kiss and Mulberry Kiss. 

Honest Creme Blush - Can be dabbed on with your finger, or blended on with a brush. It's highly pigmented, which means you only need a bit to get a truly natural flush of color. The color range works great for all skin tones.

Honest EyeShadow Trio - Beautiful colors that are, again, highly pigmented and really stay on. The carefully curated trios can be built up to take you from day to night. Heather Mauve and Sable Stone are my favorites.

Honest Everything Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - It spreads on easily and stays all day. Coverage is light to medium so it's build-able, and you don't look like you're wearing a heavy mask. And, best of all, it has SPF 20, so you're caring for your skin while giving it an even tone. 

Honest Luminizing Powder - Sweep on to sculpt or set your makeup. It's lightweight and gives you a truly healthy looking glow. Dawn Reflection is a must have.

Honestly, I love this line! It absolutely performs and doesn't break your wallet. It certainly makes cleaning out your beauty cabinet (and making your health a priority), a whole lot easier.
