Bloggers, makeup artists and celebrities united under one roof at Club NOKIA on August 22nd for the 2014 NYX FACE Awards, where one finalist, Adelaine Morin (aka C0OK1EMONSTER on YouTube™), was awarded the 2014 YouTube™ Beauty Vlogger of the Year Award. Hosted by E!’s Catt Sadler, the night was filled with hilarious antics as YouTube™ sensation co-hosts P’Trique and Amy Pham from The Platform got up close and personal with audience members throughout the show.

Over 2,000 online submissions were made this spring by various beauty gurus and makeup artists.  The YouTube™ public narrowed down their selections to six finalists after various video challenges.  Those six finalists took to the stage and were judged by a panel of beauty experts such as celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson, Beauty Director of Teen Vogue Elaine Welteroth, Target Beauty Concierge Advisor Kaisha Vega and YouTube™ sensation and ipsy stylist Promise Phan.

The 16-year-old winner from Canada, Adelaine Morin, stole the show throwing off her heels at one point and winning over the hearts of the judges and fans. Morin started her YouTube™ channel entering the first NYC FACE Awards with a mere 10,000 subscribers and jumping to 400,000 subscribers by this year’s award show. And this isn’t her first rodeo; she was also in the top 6 in last year’s competitive show! As this year’s winner, she’ll claim a prize package of $25k, consultations from pro makeup artists and a year’s supply of NYX Cosmetics.

What does she plan on doing with her loot? She’s giving back and donating some of her prize winnings to ovarian cancer research (in honor of her grandmother) and saving the rest for college. As for her advice on pursuing your dreams, she says, “I wish this could happen to all of my subscribers that accepted me when nobody else did. The NYX FACE Awards was such a great experience, and I recommend everyone give it a try. You have nothing to lose. All you have is the potential to gain.”

NYX Cosmetics started this award show in 2012 to support and recognize rising beauty, creating a platform that would encourage and reward creativity.  NYX Cosmetics CEO Scott Friedman explains their passion behind having the awards show: “We are proudly committed to offering this unique platform for beauty vloggers, providing them the opportunity to further develop their talent, support their career growth and gain recognition within the makeup artistry industry.”
