Life has its ups and downs, but never like in this current day and time. With the uncertainty of the economy and how it’s affected many beauty creatives in the industry, Melody O’Flaherty and her husband Michael Duenas were inspired to create the non-profit, Support Creatives. This 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, launched on April 6th, offers a support system and community for freelancers in the beauty community who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both Melody and Michael are certainly no strangers to how the beauty business works. Melody is the Founder of Melody Joy Public Relations with 10+ years of experience in the beauty and lifestyle PR arena and her husband Michael is a freelance celebrity hairstylist with over 20 years of experience. “I understand how difficult it is to pay your bills and grow your craft, especially during moments of crisis. In an uncertain market, I want to provide the means and stability for every artist to achieve their dreams,” says Duenas. Seeing a need to help out and assist their fellow artists in the beauty community became the number one priority for them in building up this non-profit organization. “When one group takes a hit, the others feel it. This is a community, and we all have to support one another for collective success,” explains O’Flaherty.

Support Creatives is not just a one-off for an artist. It was designed to help, support, and educate an artist through the length of their career by offering services such as an Emergency Beauty Support Program, Mentorship Program, Education Program, and a Tool and Product Support Program.
