She rose to fame starring opposite her identical twin, Tia Mowery, in the popular teen drama Sister, Sister, back in the 90's. These days, Tamera Mowry is holding her own as a busy mom of two and as one of the co-hosts on the syndicated talk show, The Real. Currently in it's third season, Tamera sits down to chat with us about the strong female friendships she shares with her three co-hosts on the show, her favorite holiday party look, and the one beauty product she can't live without.
You work with a bunch of female powerhouses on your talk show, The Real. What do you love most about working with your co-hosts and what have you learned from them?
What I love most about the girls is that they’re real girls girls. They want you to succeed in everything that you do and when we’re at the table, there can be a time when someone might be having a bad day, and the other girl will pick up the slack for her. She never leaves the other one hanging. What I’ve learned about the girls is that they never give up in everything and anything. Everyone has had their own obstacles in their career and you can just see them never give up, fight hard for what they believe in and they’re very passionate. I’ve learned that women don’t need to be catty with each other and they can be supportive – it’s very beautiful to see. Also, I’ve really learned how to stay on trend, i.e. all the girls are very fashionable in their own way. They’ve encouraged and helped me find my way back after I had my two kids.

You’ve been in the entertainment industry for quite a while now, what’s the best tip or trick you’ve learned while sitting in a chair in the Hair or Makeup trailer?
Music is the key. Putting on some really cool songs gets me through. My go to is soft/loungey R&B music - I love Jhene Aiko so I put on her channel to find that vibe or type of sound when I’m getting ready.
Now that we’re in the holiday season, what's a favorite makeup look you like to wear for a holiday party?
I love some sparkle on my eyes and red lips during the holidays.
If you could receive any extravagant holiday beauty gift this year, what would it be?
My facialist (Shani Darden) uses a machine that provides oxygen and LED therapy on my skin. The machine makes you look younger, but it costs tons of money. That would be my gift of choice!
As the weather gets colder (even for LA), what are some of your favorite skincare products to use?
I like to use coconut oil – it’s easy and you can use it in so many ways – on your hair, to remove makeup, to moisturize your body. It helps keep you hydrated and prevents you from getting dry skin during the colder temperatures.
What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever received?
Drinks lots of water and eat healthy! It affects your hair, your nails, and your skin. It’s important for your skin because you truly are what you eat.
