Working on an action-packed DC Comics hit show is just a normal day at the office for The Flash’s Malese Jow. Jow splits her time playing Linda Park and Dr. Light in the second season of the show. Balancing two roles and personalities is no easy job, and with long days on set in heavy makeup, she finds it essential to let her skin take a moment and breath when she’s not working. We sat down with her to chat about the second season of the CW’s The Flash, why she’s loving her shorter ‘do and how she finds balance in Hollywood.

You’re now in your second season of The Flash. What do you love about working on this iconic and popular show?
Working on a show such as The Flash is a big honor. Not only is it iconic in itself, but everyone involved is just so amazing at what they do. I can't believe I'm blessed enough to be able to say that I'm a part of it in my little way.

What do you like and dislike about your character, Linda Park?
I only like things about Linda. It's hard to find anything to dislike. She embodies a strong, confident woman. She knows herself, and I find that extremely admirable. I'm inspired by her in every way.

When you work long days in heavy makeup on set, what products do you use to care for your skin (such as cleansers, moisturizers, masks, etc.)?
My go-to face products are Philosophy Purity Made Simple face wash, and Clinique for my toner, Clinique’s Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief for my face and their eye cream as well. It's all light and lets my skin breathe. Also, I try to do an all-natural face masque at least once a week. It's so important so take care of your skin.

Let’s talk about that gorgeous head of hair that you have. How do you keep it in such amazing condition?
Thank you! I recently cut my hair really short, and I can tell it's so thankful for that! Shorter hair is so much more low maintenance, which I love. As far as taking care of my hair though, I definitely make sure to give it breaks from heat and products when I can. And I try not to wash everyday because that strips a lot of natural oils. Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo is a product that I can’t live without.

If we raided your purse, what beauty products would we find?
You would find so many things! Among them would be Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, Kat Von D or ColourPop everlasting liquid lipstick (in a few different colors because you just never know what the day will bring!), Makeup Forever powder, a mini Marc Jacobs perfume, and Oribe texture spray.

When your schedule gets super busy, how do you find your balance?
When I start to get busy, I find myself naturally getting even more conscious of my workout and eating habits. Being active (going to the gym or doing something outside) and eating well just makes me feel good, which is really important keeping up a crazy schedule.
