Interview with Style Blogger Peony Lim

What’s it like to create a fashion blog and within a year be featured in publications such as Vogue Russia, Glamour and The Sunday Times Style?  Ask Peony Lim. She’s a style blogger and brand consultant who went from starting a small blog to having her own super successful website within a few years.  Her popularity and super smart style landed her collaborations with brands ranging from J Brand to the Gap and Michael Kors.  Now at www.peonylim.com, Peony covers everything from fashion to food & travel.  WIB caught up with her on a recent trip to London to find out how she manages and cares for her skin in the dismally cold London weather, what her beauty tricks are and why Tom Ford lipstick is her must-have.

WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE?
I always wash my face before bed with Eve Lom cleanser and then wear Eve Lom TLC Cream overnight; that way I wake up with a fresh face for the next day’s make-up. Normally, I will wear a tinted moisturizer, concealer under the eyes, mascara and blusher (and bronzer in the summer).

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVE SKINCARE PRODUCTS AND WHY?
I love By Terry and Laura Mercier for great light coverage in loads of shades. Chanel and Tom Ford for eyeshadow and lipstick- they are color geniuses. Diorshow mascara for lengthening and volume without clumps.

WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU CARRY IN YOUR HANDBAG AND NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT?
Lip balm is a must like Palmers, antibacterial gel with a cucumber fragrance and a hair brush. I don't tend to reapply make-up during the day.

WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TO A MORE NATURAL-LOOKING CAT EYE THAT YOU WEAR OFTEN?
Less is more. I don't like a thick wing, it doesn't let your face speak.  I never want people to see my make-up before they see my face.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CLASSIC RED LIPSTICK?
Tom Ford in Cherry Lush.

DOES YOUR OUTFIT EVER INSPIRE YOUR BEAUTY LOOK? OR VICE VERSA?
Absolutely- they can't fight each other. Some outfits scream for a red lip, others would be ruined by one.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF BEAUTY?
Symmetrical individualism.
