2015 Met Gala: Chrissy Teigen
/Model Chrissy Teigen donned a custom made St. John gown for the 2015 Met Gala. Looking glamorous and modern, makeup artist Mary Phillips describes where she found the color inspiration that she used on Chrissy, “You’ll see the hues that would be found in an orchid (which I posted on my Instagram) Plums, purples, violets, with some gold and bronzed infused as well.”
She states that the key to a good makeup application is properly prepping the skin before applying any products. “One of the biggest keys to brushing out colors, (and not just on the eyes, but the face and body as well) begins with the right skin care, and without that, everything else would be almost impossible. The products that we put on for prep allowed her do have a locked in, dewy complexion that seemed to just get even more hydrated the longer the ingredients were on,” said Mary.
Find out Mary’s complete skincare and beauty breakdown on Chrissy:
Skincare: Mary started by prepping the lips with Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. Then she massaged the face for five minutes with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. Using Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector as a primer, this helped to lock in moisture into the skin. She finished with Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate to give certain areas on the face an extra added glow.
Face: To color correct areas on the face, she used Giorgio Armani Master Corrector Concealer in #2 (Orange), then applied a sheer layer of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in #8. For a bronzed look, she used Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in #2 and #3 and Giorgio Armani Sun Fabric Sheer Bronzer in #200 to remove any extra shine. She created a natural flush on the cheek by combining these two colors of Giorgio Armani Cheek Fabric Blush in #502 (Skin) and #503 (Daybreak).
Eyes: She brushed brows, then filled them in with Giorgio Armani Brow Defining Pencil in #3. Creating a watercolor effect, Mary used a variety of eye tins which included Giorgio Armani Eye Tint in #9 (Cold Copper), #10 (Senso), #11 (Rose Ashes) and #12 (Gold Ashes). Lashes were curled with the Lancôme Le Curler Eyelash Curler and then she applied with Giorgio Armani Black Ecstasy Mascara in #1 (black) for added volume.
Lips: To make the lips pop with a fun fuchsia color, she used Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in #513.
